Easy to follow, really helpful

I grabbed the Procreate for Illustrators workshop last month. It was pretty cool, honestly. Mel showed a bunch of tricks I hadn't thought of. Made using Procreate way less intimidating. Felt like she was just chatting to me, explaining things without making it too complicated. Definitely worth it for anyone using Procreate.

Good structure, clear delivery

I purchased the Surface Pattern Design course a few months ago and have been working through it. The course structure is logical, starting with fundamentals and building up. Access to the materials was instant after purchase. I had a small query about one of the assignments and used the support contact form; received a helpful response within 24 hours. The video quality is high, and Mel's teaching style is engaging. It's self-paced, which I appreciate, as it fits my schedule. I've already started applying the Pattern Layout techniques she taught, and my work looks much more professional. Definitely a comprehensive resource.

Good value on the course

I was looking for a good deal on a design course and picked up the Creative Career roadmap during a seasonal enrollment discount. It felt like a solid investment for the price I paid. I looked at a few other options, but this one offered a lot of practical advice for what I was willing to spend. It's helping me think about my next steps without breaking the bank.

Consistent quality, always learning

I've bought a few courses from Mel before, and the Adobe Illustrator for Pattern Design workshop was just as solid as my previous purchases. The content is always well-organized, and she explains things clearly. This one really helped me refine my workflow. It's why I keep coming back; I know what to expect and it always delivers.

Mostly good, one small hiccup

I enrolled in the Creative Business coaching, and overall, it was a positive experience. The coaching sessions were insightful, and Mel provided actionable advice tailored to my art business. I found the scheduling process for the follow-up sessions a bit clunky; it took a couple of emails to finalize dates. However, once we got going, the content and Mel's expertise were excellent. The value for money was there, especially considering the personalized attention. I feel much more confident about my next steps, despite that initial scheduling issue.

How does Mel Armstrong compare to like, Skillshare? Is it worth the higher price tag for her specific courses?

R Raj 2 months ago
I've done both. Skillshare is good for variety, but Mel's stuff is way more in-depth and structured if you're serious about learning one thing. Like, she really gets into the nitty-gritty.

Totally different vibe. Skillshare is more bite-sized, lots of different teachers. Mel's courses are full-on learning paths, way more focused. If you want to master something specific, Mel's better, but it's a bigger time commitment.

Does anyone know if Mel Armstrong ever has Black Friday sales? Or should I just buy the course now?

N Neil 1 month ago
She usually does! I picked up her Illustration Masterclass during Black Friday last year, got a decent discount on it.

I think she did last year, and sometimes there are other seasonal deals too. If you sign up for her newsletter, you'll probably hear about any sales coming up.

thinking about getting the Surface Pattern Design course, but I'm worried about getting stuck. is there any kind of community or feedback loop?

C Cleo Osei 1 month ago
Yup, there's a community thing. It's pretty active, people post their work and Mel jumps in sometimes too. It's included with the course.

Yeah, the community is actually super helpful. People ask questions, share progress. It's a nice extra, not just like a dead forum.

hey, was wondering if anyone knows if Mel Armstrong's courses are good for total beginners? like, never used Procreate before kind of beginner?

D Dan W. 2 months ago
Yeah, totally! I started with her Procreate for Illustrators workshop and literally didn't know how to turn it on before that. She breaks everything down.

I think so. I did the Surface Pattern Design course and she starts with the basics. You might have to rewatch a few things but it's def doable even if you're super new.
